Paramedic goes shopping while ambulance waits

By William Charles Baker     Jan 10, 2011 in World
Cardiff - A UK female paramedic who was available for an emergency call did not report to her durties and instead parked her ambulance to go shopping.
The paramedic Esther Thoms 37 of Cardiff Wales was on duty and instead of replying to controllers went to an Aldi store. There she made purchases while still dressed in her paramedic uniform.
The Telegraph reports: "Esther Thomas went into the supermarket and made the purchases, buying plants, plant pots, Neurofen and sweets and placed them in the ambulance. She then went to an area of landscaping in the car park and removed a small bush from the ground."
An investigation concluded that she was at the supermarket without permission which caused a delay in her availability to do her job. The store owner requested she return the shrub but did not contact police about the event.
