A novel based on Princess Diana explores through fiction on what her life could have been if she had not died in 1997. The book is due out right before Prince William weds this spring.
Author Monica Ali's new novel, Untold Story is about a fictional princess. The novelist admits that she was strongly influenced by Princess Diana in an interview with the Guardian about how she had often wondered about what would have happened to Diana had there never been the auto accident reports TransWorldNews.
"What I always admired about her was the way she refused to be told what to do. She stuck two fingers up at the establishment, she took risks, she was a gorgeous bundle of trouble.
"I did my research but it's a work of fiction. It's primarily about identity, which is what I always write about.
"And it's about family and friendship, and the peculiar calamity of fame."
Ali's first novel Brick Lane was the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 2003.
