By Jozefina Ndoci     Jan 6, 2011 in World
What was meant to be a game of who could remain underwater in the swimming pool for the longest time without breathing turned out to be the last time a young 16-year-old boy ever breathed.
Sam Goodenough was with his friends playing in a swimming pool, testing out who was capable of remaining underwater the longest without their breath.
On December 29 2010, young Sam Goodenough held his breath more than he was capable of, resulting in only child's death on Tuesday.
His family agreed to switch off the life support the boy had been on since the day of the accident at the Nelson Hospital in New Zealand, in intensive care unit and now his funeral will be held this Saturday.
Sam's parents said that it was a tragic death coming from a game, and his mother Sheryl, told The Australian that her son was a 'precious gift from god.'
