Queen Elizabeth's family is in the news with her great-granddaughter given a name and both Prince William and Zara Phillips having upcoming weddings. Her son Prince Charles was also named the busiest Royal of 2010.
Prince Charles took part in a total of 499 official engagements during 2010 making him the busiest British Royal. His mother, Queen Elizabeth also was busy throughout the year logging 444 public engagements, many of which were overseas. Both Prince William and Prince Harry were able to be on hand for royal events while also working or training with the British military. William is a RAF rescue pilot and Harry is training with the Army Air Corps.
Later this spring William will be even busier. He and Kate Middleton will be married on April 29 by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Westminster Abbey. The British Monarchy has released the following statement via Facebook about current plans of the couple's wedding:
"Prince William and Miss Middleton have made the following decisions about their wedding day on 29th April 2011 at Westminster Abbey.
"Miss Middleton will travel to the wedding service at Westminster Abbey by car along a route that will include The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and Parliament Square.
"The wedding service will begin at 11am. The Dean of Westminster will conduct the service, the Archbishop of Canterbury will marry Prince William and Miss Middleton, and the Bishop of London will give the address."
The couple plan to have a reception and dinner for their close friends at Buckingham Palace following the ceremony.
William's cousin Zara Phillips has signed a deal with Hello! magazine for her upcoming wedding to fiance Mike Tindall just like her brother Peter Phillips did in 2008. TransWorldNews reports:
“Zara and her family have a very good relationship with Hello! and were delighted by its coverage of her brother’s wedding.
“Hello! told them in the past that they would be keen to cover their wedding when they got married and will seriously consider the offer.”
Peter Phillips and wife Autumn made Queen Elizabeth a great-grandmother over the holidays. The little girl has been named Savannah according to the Rector of Sandringham the Reverend Jonathan Riviere at a church service.
