article imageSerena Beakhurst,14, has been missing since before Christmas

By KJ Mullins     Dec 30, 2010 in World
On December 15 Serena Beakhurst, also known as Serena Dennis, left her home in Tulse Hill, Lambeth to attend a class. The British 14-year-old has not been seen by her family since.
There are claims that because Serena is a mixed-race child the police are not giving her case enough attention.
Pretty Serena is a former student at Battersea Technology School. Her friends and family have started a Facebook group looking for Serena. One of the members, Leah Longoria stated that the local community feel that the police is not giving the case enough attention. She believes that the fact that Serena's heritage is mixed-raced is a factor. There are also claims that her family's economic status is deterring a more intensive search.
A police spokesperson has said that the service is taking Serena's disappearance seriously.
There is no evidence that Serena ran away from her home just days prior to Christmas. In fact family and friends say that Serena's home life was happy.
The family is attempting to make contact with girls that Serena was last seen with. The girls live in the Battersea area or near Doddington Estate and attend either Battersea Park School/Battersea Technology College or Passage Training in Tooting, Mitcham.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lambeth Missing Persons Unit on 020 8649 3423 or 0300 123 1212 quoting ref: 10MIS049123.
