article imageRapper Charles Hamilton in jail for felony assault

By Edward Xiao     Dec 27, 2010 in Crime
Cleveland - Troubled young rapper Charles Hamilton was arrested in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday, December 10, after assaulting two police officers.
According to various sources, including hip-hop magazine XXL, the twenty-three year old Brooklyn native was causing disturbances by running in and out of several bars and restaurants and yelling at employees and patrons. Police from the fourth district were then called to intervene.
When the officers approached him, Hamilton reportedly attempted to punch two of them before he was subdued; the officers subsequently arrested Hamilton and took him into custody on the charge of felony assault.
While assault is usually a misdemeanor, when directed at a law enforcement officer, it becomes a felony.
Hamilton is currently being held in Cleveland's county jail on a $25,000 bond. He has yet to be indicted of the charges and has not released any comment regarding the situation.
The rapper, who was purportedly travelling across the country to meet with his record label executives, is due to release a second album entitled My Heart later next year.
