On the same day, May 3, that Madeline McCann was taken, another little boy disappeared in the United Kingdom. Daniel Entwistle was just 7 in 2003.
His case, four years prior to the McCann case didn't garner the international press and by July the police closed his case.
On that fateful morning Daniel was being a good big brother, going to fetch a baby bottle and some candy from the shop across the street. He took off on his bike and vanished.
Daniel's mum wasn't feeling well so his daddy gave him some money to buy the bottle and candy at the local store. In 2008 his father spoke to Times Online about that day.
“I said I would look after baby John, but I couldn't find his bottle, so I asked Daniel to nip over to the shop about 20 yards away on the other side of the road to buy a new one. I also gave him 50p to buy some sweets.
“He came back with the bottle and I made John a drink. He then said, ‘Dad, can I play outside?' I told him, ‘Yes, but don't go away'. I expected him to be outside or at his mate's house in our road.”
When Daniel's big brother came home he was sent out to fetch him. That was when the family's life turned upside down. Young Daniel was gone. His little red bike was found near the River Yare. The river was searched but there was no sign. The family sent out desperate pleas to the community.
By summer the police had stopped working the case. It's still open. His parents and brothers are still waiting. Do you hold the key that ends this family's living nightmare?
