article imageRichard Branson to serve as air hostess on Air Asia X flight

By Lynn Curwin     Dec 14, 2010 in Travel
Sir Richard Branson is expected to wear a red dress, heels and make up while working as a flight attendant after losing a bet.
The Telegraph reported that the chairman of Virgin Group agreed to dress as a female flight attendant and work on an Air Asia X flight after losing a bet with that airline’s chief executive Tony Fernandes.
The men had bet, at the first of the racing season, on whether Branson’s Virgin Racing or Fernandes’ Lotus F1 team would do the best. The loser was to serve as a flight attendant on a plane owned by the other's company. Neither team scored points but the Lotus team had better finishing positions.
"It is going to be a London to Kuala Lumpur flight," Fernandes told Autosport. "We haven't fixed a date but I was well prepared this weekend. We had a badge made for him that reads 'Richard Branson, Flight Attendant'. And a uniform.
"The plan is to auction the seats and give the money to charity. We will have the world's media there."
He said that Branson once employed him so he is looking forward to having things reversed and seeing his former boss working "with shaved legs."
The Daily Mail reported that Fernandes wrote on Twitter that February 21, 2011 will be the date when Branson will be a crew member of AirAsia X.
He has worn women's clothing before. In 1996 he shaved his beard and wore a wedding gown for the launch of Virgin Brides (wedding dresses and accessories) and he wore a dress when Virgin Vie (cosmetics and skincare) was unveiled.
