Stockholm - One man has died and two others were injured after two explosions were reported in the Swedish capital Stockholm Saturday.
The AP is reporting a car had been the cause of one of the explosions while the cause of the other has yet to be determined.
Rescue services say a man injured by the first blast had later died while two others had been take to hospital with light injuries.
According to CNN, Police spokeswoman Petra Sjolander suspected gas canisters may have been the cause of the explosion.
"It is likely that this was some kind of gas tubes that have caused the car to explode multiple times."
The BBC quoted a former AP worker, Gabriel Gabiro, who was present at the scene.
"I saw some people crying, perhaps from the shock."
"There was a man lying on the ground with blood coming out in the area of his belly, and with his personal belongings scattered around him," he told the AP.
The explosions took place on Drottninggatan, a street in a busy shopping district.
The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet played a video on its website of a white vehicle engulfed in flames while fire crews arrived on the scene.
A police bomb unit has been sent to the site but there does not appear to be any further threat.
Authorities did not comment directly on the attacks other than to state available facts at the scene saying that it was too early to speculate as to whether the blasts had been a deliberate act.
