article imageCould Queen Elizabeth’s old panties be worth $9,000?

Miami - Underwear allegedly left behind by Queen Elizabeth in a private plane after a trip to Chile in 1968 is being auctioned in Florida with a starting price of US $9,000.
If you are a collector of celebrities’ personal items this could be a great business opportunity. An auction to take place at Hanson's Auctioneers in Florida seeks to sell an unusual piece of memorabilia to the highest bidder: a piece of underwear of Queen Elizabeth II. The royal undergarment is cream coloured with a slightly darker pattern on the lacy bottom lining of both legs and has a fancy crown over an 'E' stitched onto one side.
As reported by TMZ, the website specially dedicated to celebrities, the garment came into the hands of a notorious playboy, Hungarian-born "Baron" Joseph de Bicske Dobronyi, also known as Sepy, when a friend handed him the panties that had been left on a private plane when Queen Elizabeth visited Chile in 1968.
Sepy kept the panties among his possessions for more than 40 years. When he died about six months ago, his heirs decided to sell some of his belongings through the same auction house that in 2008 sold another undergarment that used to belong to Queen Victoria. An anonymous Canadian citizen paid $ 9,000 for it. This is the same amount that they expect to get now for this panty.

Julien's Auction Catalog
In terms of clothing auctions, “El Museo de la Moda” (the Fashion Museum) of Santiago de Chile recently acquired two important collection pieces: the military style jacket John Lennon wore in 1966 for a picture on the cover of Life magazine, which Julien's Auctions of California sold for 200 thousand dollars on December 3, and the dress that Lady Di used in 1981 at her first official appearance with Prince Charles, which value surpassed 275 thousand dollars.
