Floyd Mayweather Jr charged with misdemeanor battery

By Leo Reyes     Dec 8, 2010 in Sports
Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr has been charged with criminal battery in Nevada for allegedly poking a security officer in the face following a confrontation over a parking citation.
According to court documents, Mayweather was charged with the misdemeanor count for the Nov. 15 incident involving security guard Shayne Smith. In a report, the Las Vegas police said Smith noticed two vehicles, a grey Ford Explorer and a silver Mercedes 550, parked in violation of the Southern Highlands parking regulations.
After placing parking violation stickers on the vehicles, Smith attempted to drive on but found Mayweather standing in the road blocking the way.
Smith alleges Mayweather screamed that the guard had "no f*cking business" touching his personal property -- before the boxer grabbed a citation from one of his cars and slapped it on Smith's patrol vehicle.
Police described the boxer as being verbally abusive during the "tantrum" and allegedly jabbed his finger into the Smith's cheek.
Mayweather Jr. will appear in court on January 24 for the preliminary hearing of a case filed against him by Josie Harris, his former girlfriend and mother of his three children in connection with a Sept. 9 domestic violence incident.
Harris said she was attacked by Mayweather after admitting she was seeing NBA basketball star CJ Watson of Chicago Bulls.
Mayweather Jr. is currently out on a $31,000 bail.
