On Saturday afternoon skaters took to the ice at Nathan's Phillip Square displaying anything from raw talent to falls. From the sidelines it appeared that many on the ice were attempting their first time on skates. Children who were more experienced flocked to the skating Santa.
Visitors can rent skates at a temporary rental centre.
The rink is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. There are one to three rink guards on site while the rink is open. A zamboni operator is also on site.
The rink is one of the busiest ones in Toronto. Ice clean-up is infrequent because of the large crowds.
