Spokane SWAT Team Threatened Executing Search Warrant

By Kassandra Garcia     Dec 2, 2010 in Crime
Spokane - A Spokane Valley man used a military-style knife to threaten the Spokane SWAT team while they attempted to execute a search warrant regarding stolen firearms.
Wednesday at 1:45 PM the property crimes detectives of Spokane Valley, Washington, with the help of Spokane SWAT, entered Franklin Fitzgerald's home. They were at the property looking for stolen firearms, what they got was more. Fitzgerald, after SWAT identified themselves, opened the front door with a knife raised above his head in a threatening manner. He then slammed the door shut.
SWAT entered with force and subdued Fitzgerald after he had dropped the weapon. Throughout the search they did not recover the firearms but did locate other items either reported stolen or missing serial numbers.
KREM 2 News was told that SWAT was enlisted for assistance due to the man's criminal history and the possibility of lethal weapons being at the home.
As of now, Fitzgerald is being held on felony assault charges, more charges may follow after the investigation is completed.
