A 10th grade student with a handgun is holding 23 classmates and a teacher hostage at a high school in Wisconsin, and roads in the area have been blocked off.
WHBL reported that Marinette County Emergency Management director Eric Burmeister said that an administrator at Marinette High School called authorities around 3:47 p.m. Monday to report that an armed student had burst into a classroom.
According to Fox 11, Marinette Police Chief Jeffrey Skorik said hostage negotiators are inside the school and that all contact so far has been through the teacher in the classroom.
There have not been any demands or threats made yet, and no injuries have been reported.
Parents from the area who have not been able to contact their child are being asked to go to the local courthouse.
Fox 11 has heard that Green Bay police and the Green Bay SWAT team have been called to join Marinette County authorities at the scene.
