Chicago - On the CTA brown line a train hit a car at a crossing and then crashed into the platform nearby early on Sunday morning. The incident happened on Chicago’s northwest side, near the Kedzie station.
Fortunately, there did not appear to be any deaths involved in the incident, according to a statement to the press from emergency officials at the scene. However, the train operator and the driver of the car had been rushed to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.
The driver of the auto was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital Center and listed in serious to critical condition. The train operator, meanwhile, was taken to the hospital as well and, according to a fire department spokesman, listed as “shaken up.” There was no listing of actual physical injuries to the train driver.
There were no passengers on the train or in the car that were injured. The train did derail after the crash, however, causing part of the CTA system to be shut down while the wreckage was cleared.
