article imageFBI dupes terror attack on Xmas tree lighting in Portland

By Paul Wallis     Nov 27, 2010 in World
Portland - It's going to be a much merrier Christmas in Portland than it might have been. An attempted vehicle bombing attack on a Christmas tree lighting by a Moslem extremist was stopped before it even started.
According to Oregon, the man was committed to the attack. They questioned him about his motives, the effect of the attack, and even whether he’d be able to look at the victims. He spent months planning the attack, and also arranged with the FBI agents to get out of the country after the attack.
The FBI supplied some non-explosives to a Somali-born teenager, who of course couldn’t detonate them. The intended effect of the attack was a subject of discussion, as reported by Oregon
The FBI operatives cautioned Mohamud several times about the seriousness of his plan, noting that there would be many people, including children, at the event, and that Mohamud could abandon his plans at any time with no shame.
"You know there's going to be a lot of children there?" an FBI operative asked Mohamud. "You know there are gonna be a lot of children there?"
Mohamud allegedly responded he was looking for a "huge mass that will ... be attacked in their own element with their families celebrating the holidays."
Mohamud had been considering “violent jihad” for several years, since his mid-teens.
Mohamud is a US citizen, and will be charged with an attempted terrorist act. The FBI made it clear that at no time was the public in actual danger.
You have to appreciate the hideous logic of the situation. Mohamud would have been 9 years old when 911 happened. Another generation of nuts is apparently rising. This kid, after no doubt being tormented for years suffering the horrors of living in Portland Oregon after leaving the enchanted Earthly paradise of Somalia as a child, wanted to kill people, including kids celebrating Christmas, purely because they were celebrating Christmas.
