It was a lucky day for a Clarington man, 22, Wednesday morning when his pickup truck was struck by a freight train in Courtice.
The Dom's Auto Parts employee had just finished waiting for an eastbound train to pass when he proceeded to cross rail lines on a private laneway. He saw a westbound CP freight train coming at him at 65 kilometers an high.
The train struck the front end of the pickup truck pushing it to the side before stopping a short distance away.
The man walked away with minor injuries. The pickup wasn't as lucky, receiving substantial damage to the front end.
No charges have been laid. CP Rail officials were called in to conduct their own investigation.
