This was revealed by Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum after reports on pay-per-view figures by HBO which show the Pacquiao-Margarito fight generated 1.15 million buys amounting to $64 million
Pacquiao was guaranteed $15 million for the Margarito fight which took place at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas last November 13.
Philstar.com reports:
It marked the third time that Pacquiao breached the one million mark in PPV sales, making him one of the most bankable figures in the sport. He did 1.25 million against Dela Hoya in 2008, and 1.20 million against Miguel Cotto last year.
Arum said the PPV sales of the Margarito fight is enough reason to make everybody happy.
“These are good numbers and everybody’s very happy,” he said from his home in Los Angeles.
Pacquiao, who is turning 32 on December 17, said earlier he will continue fighting but will stop when he reaches 35.
There are big fights in the three years that Pacquiao plans to remain active in boxing including the most desired fight between him and undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr which could give him a windfall of no less than $40 million.
