Aiden Grimshaw will be taking part in the 2011 British X Factor tour, despite not going through to the final eight acts of this year's competition.
According to Digital Spy, contrary to previous reports that only eight acts would take part in the tour, nine are now doing so.
Grimshaw – from North Shore in Blackpool – received his shock elimination from the show last weekend, despite being very popular with the British viewing public, having wowed them with his rendition of "Mad World" early on in the current series.
Apparently, the number of acts was increased from eight to nine following protests posted to Twitter by Grimshaw's fans.
Digital Spy reports that the 18-year-old said: "So if I was on the tour what would you say? Comment here, because I'm on the tour!"
Grimshaw is a student at the Michael Hall Theatre School. Before gaining a place on The X Factor, he played Tom Holmes in Half Moon Investigations, the BBC children's TV drama series about a schoolboy detective, which is based on Eoin Colfer's novel of the same name.
The other eight taking part are Mary Byrne, Matt Cardle, Wagner Carrilho, Rebecca Ferguson, Cher Lloyd, One Direction, Paije Richardson and Katie Waissel. The 30-date tour, which starts on 19 February, will stop at arenas around the UK and Ireland.
