'Save money, live better' rings true during the holiday season as Wal-Mart plans on offering free shipping for online purchases.
Wal-Mart, the nation's largest retailer, announced Thursday that it would offer free shipping on about 60,000 holiday items. The promotion is going on right now and doesn't end until December 20. It doesn't require a minimum purchase or any fees.
Since the retailer announced the offer, Amazon.com has responded by matching the promotion.
Steve Nave, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart.com, said free shipping would help families save money "so they can bring home more for less." The company also said it wouldn't be increasing prices on products to offer the service.
Amazon spokeswoman Sally Fouts said, "We aim to meet or beat any deal out there."
