article imageTV quiz show admits error over 'incorrect' Doctor Who answer

Channel 4 have issued an apology to the contestants who lost out in one of their TV quiz shows despite giving the correct answer.
Digital Journal reported earlier on the controversy surrounding one of the questions on last week's Million Pound Drop.
During that episode, Johnny and Dee lost £325,000 (US $500,000) when answering the question "Who played Doctor Who for the longest period of time [in the BBC science-fiction drama series, Doctor Who], Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant?"
The couple gambled between Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann, but were told – wrongly, as it turns out – that "David Tennant" was the correct answer.
Since then, however, after Doctor Who fans pointed out that "Sylvester McCoy" is the correct answer, Channel 4 launched an investigation.
A spokesperson for the show said that they had now spoken to the Doctor Who production team in Cardiff, who have confirmed what fans have been saying. As a result, Channel 4 issued the following statement to the Doctor Who News Page (DWNP):
The Million Pound Drop producers have confirmed that the correct answer to this question was Sylvester McCoy and not David Tennant as shown on the broadcast on Friday 5th November. This is due to Sylvester McCoy's final appearance in a 1996 TV movie. We apologise for this oversight and as a result, the contestants, Johnny and Dee, will return to the show to finish the game this Friday or Saturday at 10pm on Channel 4 with the £325,000 they placed on McCoy.
DWNP's Chuck Foster added: "With a long-running series like Doctor Who it is important to set unambiguous questions, such as those used for contestants in the specialist rounds of [BBC quiz show] Mastermind. The question [on Million Pound Drop] can be interpreted many ways and, as Who fans of course know, 'time is relative'"
