A newly discovered oil field located in Brazil is believed to hold around 8 million barrels of oil. This is the biggest oil field discovery in the Americas since 1976.
According to Brazil’s national petroleum agency, the newly discovered oil field holds around 8 billion gallons.
If the field does hold 8 billion gallons, it will be the biggest oil field discovered in the Americas since 1976.
"The volume of recoverable oil belonging to the nation could vary from 3.7 billion to 15 billion barrels, with the most likely estimate being 7.9 billion barrels," the national petroleum agency (ANP) said in a statement.
This discovery and the discovery of other oil fields in Brazil should make them the world’s top 10 oil producers.
