Survey: Canadians like their sex when the sun goes down

By KJ Mullins     Oct 12, 2010 in Health
When it comes to sex most Canadian men and women over the age of 40 prefer to enjoy partners when the sun is down according to the Cialis Sex Survey.
The Cialis Sex Survey asked 1000 respondents ages 40 and older when they prefer to have sex; sixty percent said that night time is the right time for making whoopie, morning sex romps made the day for 27 percent and 13 thought a little afternoon delight was just right.
Those answers varied slightly depending on where a Canadian lives, morning lovers were more common in Quebec (36 per cent) as opposed to only 18 per cent of those living in the Prairies. In the Atlantic Provinces one in four like morning sexcapades but almost all think a nooner is a no deal.
While spontaneity is important to Canadians when it comes to sex and sixty per cent surveyed wished for a spontaneous sex life only 44 per cent have one. Being too tired, work and the inability to have private time with their partner interferes with that desire.
"Although many couples over 40 enjoy spontaneous sex, many couples also experience challenges and frustration," says Anna Toth, M.Sc, Registered Marriage & Family Therapist and sex therapy provider said in a press release. "Erectile difficulties and other life circumstances can get in the way of couples having relaxed and carefree sex whenever and wherever they want."
When it comes to sex, Canadians believe that age makes a difference. Sixty-one per cent think that sex has become better and 40 per cent believe that their sex life was best during their 40s or later in their life.
While sex improves with age there are some complications like erectile dysfunction which can be a cause of frustration, embarrassment and anxiety.
"Erectile difficulties can put a damper on spontaneous sex, however couples do have options," says Anna Toth, M.Sc., Registered Marriage and Family Therapist and sex therapy provider. "There are a number of different approaches, including therapy, that can give couples back their freedom and ensure a spontaneous and satisfying sex life as they age."
