Trenton - A Michigan couple who received death threats after posting grim photos of a dying girl and her dead mother online have apologized for their actions.
Seven-year-old Kathleen Edward is dying of Huntington's Disease, the disease which killed her mother, Laura, at the age of 24.
Jennifer and Scott Petkov, who live across the street and have been feuding with the family, posted a picture on Facebook which depicts Laura in the arms of the grim reaper, and another which shows Kathleen's face with crossbones.
After receiving death threats, Jennifer Petkov now says she wishes she hadn’t placed the pictures online.
"If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't do it," she told Fox 2. "And to that little girl, I apologize if you've been hurt. There's not much more I can say. And hopefully we can live our lives peacefully from now on."
Petkov said she had done these things to annoy Rebecca Rose, Kathleen Edward’s grandmother.
Scott Petkov also apologized for what he and his wife did.
“It was an ignorant thing that we did and it was basically in retaliation about things that were said about my house and my wife,” he told Fox 2.
The feud between the families has been going on for at least two years, and has involved several calls to police and personal protection orders against the Petkovs.
The Petkovs had also painted their truck with tombstones and placed a coffin in the back of the truck before parking it in front of the child’s home. They claimed it was a Halloween decoration at first, but have now torn apart the coffin and moved the vehicle.
