Jail time for couple who tried to blackmail actor John Stamos

By KJ Mullins     Oct 9, 2010 in Crime
A couple from Michigan were sentenced to four years in prison Friday for threatening to sell compromising photos of John Stamos.
Allison Cross and Scott Sippola had demanded that the actor pay them $68,000 for photos that they said were compromising of the actor. The photos never existed. John Stamos refused their demands.
"The defendants' strategy consisted of lying and inventing stories at trial in a bid to confuse and incite the jury. I was forced to watch [Cross] slander me at trial with impunity while the press reported their fabricated allegations,” Stamos said in a written statement.
The couple were arrested last December during a F.B.I. sting.
"I sought to exploit my knowledge of the personal weakness of a perfect stranger for my own undeserved financial gain," Sippola admitted in court papers. "I would be angry and hurt if that had happened to me and I am certain that Mr. Stamos feel that way towards me."
