Patrick Lennon, 58, who was married and is a father-of-two, watched the rape on a webcam on November 16, 2008.
He taught for many years at the all-girls Greenbank High School in Southport, Merseyside, and became a deputy headteacher.
He admitted that he encouraged Joseph John Hawley, 38, of Bolton, Greater Manchester to rape the child.
The Guardian reported that, when Lennon appeared at Liverpool crown court, Judge Mark Brown described his behaviour as deviant and depraved.
He called Hawley, who admitted he raped the girl three times and assaulted her three times, a devious and controlling individual who was lacking in empathy.
He abused the child since she was two, and has been jailed for a minimum of eight years.
Philip Skitt, 54, from Wigan, also encouraged Hawley and watched the rape. He was given an eight year jail sentence.
Skitt's wife works as a childminder but none of the children she cared for had been affected.
Lennon was arrested in September 2009, after a Canadian investigation of chatrooms led authorities to him.
When his computer was examined more than 500 indecent images, including child abuse and bestiality, were found.
He admitted to detectives that he had pretended to be a 14-year-old girl when online.
