Press TV, former Party for Socialism and Liberation’s 2008 U.S. Presidential candidate and candidate for the governorship of California in 1994 and 1998, Gloria La Riva, stated that the U.S. was behind the coup in Ecuador.
“Without a doubt, the United States was behind the coup in Ecuador,” La Riza definitively stated. “The details of the United States' involvement in the recent coup attempt in Ecuador will come to light with the passing of time.”
The volunteer organizer of Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) explained that the U.S. tried to renew the lease for a military base in in Manta, but the President rejected the lease. She further added that by using its military strength in the region, the U.S. is attempting to “counter rebel” nations like Cuba and Venezuela but Correa wouldn’t allow it.
