article imageWoman gets scammed for Lions tickets on Craigslist

By Laura Trowbridge     Sep 20, 2010 in Crime
A Sterling Heights, Michigan woman was looking for Detroit Lions tickets on Craigslist for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After giving the seller a friend's debit card info, she lost out on the tickets to watch the Lions lose their game.
According to, the woman emailed the Craigslist seller of two Detroit Lions tickets for yesterday's football game. When the seller called her back on Friday to get her charge card information, she gave him her friend's debit card.
The seller told her she could get the tickets at Will Call, but when she spoke with the Ford Field box office, she discovered that Will Call is only for Ticketmaster purchases. She and her friend whose debit card was used were out the money and the tickets now.
The woman was unable to contact the seller again, and an unauthorized $960 was charged to her friend's debit card for “SMU Athletics”.
