A video has been released which shows an engineer scaling the mind numbing height of a transmission tower to carry out repairs.
The huge tower is 1,768 feet high and when one of the engineers scales the dizzy height, a commentator explains that the engineer can now see as far as 55 miles. The tower is taller than the Eiffel Tower (1063ft), Empire State Building (1453ft) and even taller than the Sears Tower, now known as Willis Tower (1730ft) which is the USA's tallest skyscraper
The progress of the two workers as they scale the huge tower is slow reports Sky News but that is understandable when considering this palm sweating ascent, as if the journey up the mast is dangerous and difficult enough they have to carry their tool box weighing 30lbs up with them. Cameras are mounted on their safety helmets. The frightening video had originally been posted on the industry website The Online Engineer
The website promises two more new videos of transmission tower scaling by its engineers coming soon but most brave souls would be doing well to watch this one all the way through to the end.
