Burnt Quran found at San Francisco Mosque

By KJ Mullins     Sep 18, 2010 in Crime
The San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations reported that a copy of the Quran was found burnt earlier this week at the Islamic Society of San Francisco.
According to CAIR-SFBA the officials at the Islamic Society of San Francisco reported finding the burnt copy of the Islam holy book in an outside trash container. The incident was reported to San Francisco Police and to the FBI office in San Francisco.
"Regrettably, the recent wave of hate incidents targeting American Muslims has made its way to the Bay Area," said CAIR-SFBA Programs and Outreach Director Zahra Billoo in a press release. "It is unfortunate that a minority community is being targeted by hate in this way, and we are appreciative of the support that has been expressed by local elected officials and interfaith leaders."
There has been an increased rate of hostilities in the United States against Muslim Americans Terry Jones, a pastor of Florida's Dove World Outreach Center of Gainesville, called for a book burning of the Quran on 9/11 this year. Jones later said the event was canceled.
