The arrival of falls means the harvest of crops, especially corn, but in one North Carolina town the farm opens their property to visitors for a fall treat.
Statesville, North Carolina is located just 30 minutes north of Charlotte and it's the home of the "Regal Corn Maze" located just outside of town. The Regal Corn Maze is exactly what it sounds like -- a giant corn maze for those brave enough to venture through. Guests are invited to enter the maze and in order to get through you pick a genre of questioning to direct you through the maze. The topics included; entertainment, sports, history, music, Halloween, and others.
The giant hay hill for children and adults to climb on.
After you have finished weaving your way through the maze the fun isn't over. For the children under the age of 12 there is a cow train ride. The children sit in barrels painted to look like cows. The train is pulled across country by a 4-wheeler around the outside of the maze and across their property.
Children are also invited to play in a giant pit of corn. Corn kernels fill a wooden pit that is covered from the elements, which on Saturday the 11th was needed as it was drizzling rain most of the morning.
September 11th was the first day of the "Regal Corn Maze" and it will be open from 10:00-10:00pm on Saturdays and then 1:00pm-8:00pn on Sundays now through the end of October. Starting on September 24th the maze will be open on Friday nights from 5:00-10:00pm. The groups' website even talks about having a fire pit to roast marshmallows and making s'mores.
