At last week's Apple music event, Apple announced that iOS 4.1 would be available for download sometime this week. Now, all iDevices are just one click away from the latest firmware, as iOS 4.1 is available.
At their annual music event last week, Apple unveiled the next iteration of iOS: iOS 4.1. While not a major leap like 4.0, this next step in the evolution of the platform adds some nice new features for iDevice owners to enjoy.
Some of the new features in the latest iteration of the mobile OS include TV show rentals, HDR photographs, Wi-Fi HD video uploading, and better iTunes Ping integration within the iOS iTunes application. The biggest feature of the update, however, is Game Center, Apple's Xbox Live competitor. Like Xbox Live, the service allows users to create a profile for sharing high scores (on Game Center's leaderboards) and achievements. The service also allows users to invite friends to online matches and even has a matchmaking service similar to that offered on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
The update is available now for owners of the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPod Touch 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation.
