A biopic of former United States President and Hollywood actor, Ronald Reagan, has been given the green light. Although a cast and direct have yet to be named, Jonas McCord will pen the script.
In 2003, a miniseries called
“The Reagans” starring James Brolin and Judy Davis was transferred from CBS to Showtime after allegations of left-wing bias. Seven years later, it has been announced that a Hollywood motion picture on Ronald Reagan is set to hit screens in later 2011.
According to
Worst Previews, Mark Joseph optioned two best-selling biographies: “The Crusader” and “God and Ronald Reagan” for years ago. The $30 million featured film will surround Reagan’s boyhood to his rise of Hollywood stardom to the 40th President of the United States.
New York Magazine reports that Jonas McCord will write the script. However, the actor portraying Reagan and director has not been announced.
“Only in Hollywood could you make an insulting, condescending movie about a much-loved historical figure, hire an actor who loathes the man, watch it flop and then somehow conclude that Americans don't want to see a movie about him,” said Joseph. “I watched Americans line up and wait for 10 hours for the simple privilege of passing by his closed casket. They love this man."
