Zombies have become the "in" thing these days. They have become so popular that English 333 at the University of Baltimore has a class this year on zombies.
Baltimore, MD,---University of Baltimore professor, Arnold Blumberg, will be teaching a course on zombies this year.
According to the university chairman of the university's school of communications design, Jonathan Shorr, the class is part of a new minor in popular culture.
Shorr was looking for "interesting, off-the-wall" courses in the program.
When Shorr was approached by Blumberg about giving a class on zombies Shorr had to take some time to think it over.
The Baltimore Sun.com reports Shorr said, "It's a back door into a lot of subjects. They think they're taking this wacko zombie course, and they are. But on the way, they learn how literature and mass media work, and how they come to reflect our times."
When Blumberg met his class for the first time he was wearing a black shirt with red skulls on it. He also carried in a zombie head and told the class he brought a friend with him.
The Escapist writes those who take the class will have to watch sixteen classic movies that includes "Zombie 2"and read numerous amounts of zombie comics. They will also have to do research papers among other things.
They also will have the option to write scripts or draw storyboards for their ideal zombie flicks instead of doing a final research paper.
Last year "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by Jane Austin hit the best seller list.
Starting October 9
AMCTV will air a six episode series "The Walking Dead" which is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The story will tell what happens following a zombie apocalypse.
