Film about journalists nominated for Gemini award

A film that follows journalists Nikahang Kowsar, Mir Mahdavi, Mohsin Abbas, Aaron Berhane and Mike Odongkara, "So Far From Home" has been nominated for a Gemini award.
Nikahang Kowsar, Mir Mahdavi, Mohsin Abbas, Aaron Berhane and Mike Odongkara each had to flee their native countries, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Eritrea and Uganda because they are journalists.
The documentary film focuses on the journalists who have all had to flee their homelands due to their professional. Director Vladmir Kabelik of Willing Minds Productions Inc. focused on their struggles as they rebuild their lives in Canada. The film also deals with the state of free expression in these journalists native countries.
The film was seen in 2009/2010 on Omni Television. It premiered during a benefit screening with Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) and Sheridan College on September 23, 2009.
