The 29th annual Hispanic Fiesta kicked off festivities in Toronto at Mel Lastman Square. However, the attendance started off low due to the city's autumn chill of high winds and mild temperatures. The event ends on Monday.
Throughout the summer in Toronto, there are numerous cultural festivals. Therefore, it would make it sense to end the summer of 2010 with another cultural event. This time, the festival is called Hispanic Fiesta 2010.
Hispanic Fiesta, a four-day festival that celebrates Hispanic heritage, is celebrating its 29th year at the Mel Lastman Square in the northern part of the city of Toronto. Thousands from around the world attend the event every year.
This year’s festivities will include local and international Hispanic performers from more than 20 countries that will perform in Spanish. Hispanic Fiesta 2010 runs from Friday to Monday and will have live tango, mariachi, flamenco and Latin band performances.
The event, which usually is filled with “splendid sounds, tempting treats and colourful culture,” started off slow as the summer concludes and the autumn sonata begins to play with mild temperatures, heavy winds and grey skies.
Even Toronto mayoral candidate Rob Ford’s campaign was in attendance for the first half hour.
