article imageMel Gibson could still attract movie goers

By Michael Bearak     Sep 1, 2010 in Entertainment
Actor Mel Gibson seems to have been shunned by most of Hollywood after his recent string of odd behaviors. Still, one poll has found that people might actually still see him in the movies.
Mel Gibson has had a a great deal of success at the box office, the 'Mad Max' series, the 'Lethal Weapon' movies, and a host of others. After the leaked copies of his voicemail tirade towards a former girlfriend his own agency has dropped him, and Hollywood's actors and actresses have said they don't want anything to do with him anymore. When the profanity laced racial tirade was released the movie that Gibson was working on at the time, 'The Beaver' was even put on hold. The rumor out of Hollywood is that he is box-office poison.
CBS wasn't so sure about that and conducted their own poll of adults to see where they stood on the situation. CBS asked a simple question, "Whether they are now less likely to go see a Mel Gibson movie as a result of the recent scandal?"
CBS' results might be a little surprising 80 percent of the men polled in the study feel that the recent events in Gibsons' life would stop them from going to a movie he is in. Women reported back at 72 percent saying the recent run behavior would not chase them away from his movies.
