Samsung look to be taking Apple and its iPad head-on in the tablet race by releasing the Samsung Galaxy Tablet in September
The Samsung Galaxy tablet is a portable device similar to the Ipad but much smaller in size and weight. The iPad stands at 9 inches tall with a weight of 680g but its new rival stands only 7 inches tall and weighs significantly less at 370g.
The tablet is not due for release until tomorrow and was spotted in Sydney last week sporting the Android 2.2 operating system that has been developed by Google.
The commuter using the tablet said it was "awesome" and was "very different" than the iPad.
The 7inch model is rumoured to be later joined by an 8-inch model in October and a 10-inch model in December. It will also include 16GB of storage and support Micro SD cards.
