Scarborough - On Sunday a man was shot and killed by the Toronto Police shortly after a bus on Victoria Avenue was stopped. Now Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is in charge of sorting out the details.
SIU was called in after Reyal Jensen Jardine-Douglas, 25, of Pickering was shot multiple times after exiting the TTC bus that Toronto Police had pulled over shortly after 3:00 p.m.
The police started following the bus after a tip was received by TPS. The police and Jardine-Douglas were then involved in an interaction which resulted in the police firing multiple shots. Jardine-Douglas was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 4:07 p.m.
The incident will be investigated by seven investigators and four forensic investigators.
41 Division said tonight during a telephone call that it will be several days before any other details are released to the public.
