Sonora - A 70-year-old man hit a 64-year-old man over the head with a cornbread pan in order to stop him from being the first to reach yard sale items.
Jon Joslin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after striking the other man with a five-pound, cast-iron pan.
The Modesto Bee reported that, according to Sgt. Jeff Wilson, of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department, Joseph Brown, suffered laceration to his head but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Wilson said that Joslin arrived at the yard sale before that 8 a.m. start time, but was told he couldn’t buy anything before then.
Brown arrived a bit later and the two men chatted about how yard sales operate while waiting.
About 8 a.m., they walked up the driveway. Joslin tried tripping Brown, who was ahead of him. Brown told Joslin to stop and they began arguing
Brown then pushed Joslin, who retaliated by hitting him with the pan.
