Winchester - A care home manager who failed to call an ambulance as one of her patients was choking to death has been sacked by the company running the home.
Anne Taylor was in charge of St Cross Grange a residential home in Hampshire when the incident occurred. Instead of calling for an ambulance, Taylor reportedly left Parkinson’s suffer Ella Davidson to die, saying there would be no point, as she would be dead when it arrived.
Taylor is accused of only checking the dying woman’s pulse but making no attempt to resuscitate her.
An inquest launched into the death of Mrs Davidson recorded a verdict of accidental death, after being told at the hearing that the pensioner continued to gasp for breath for several minutes before dying.
Police investigated the death in June last year after no ambulance had been called to the scene, but it was decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute.
Greensleeves Home Trust which ran the home stated that Mrs Taylor had been dismissed following an internal investigation.
