Northallerton - The lifeless body of an eight year old boy was pulled from the water in a North Yorkshire pool yesterday with his mother questioning "where the hell were the life guards."
Kaimen Ward was swimming with two friends and three adults in Hambleton leisure centre where his body was pulled from the water at around 4.25pm. Lifeguards attempted to revive the youngster before the ambulance arrived but their efforts were in vain.
Kaimen's mother Caroline Ward wants to know why her son was unsupervised by lifeguards and was able to drown.
Police have launched an enquiry into the matter to uncover the circumstances surrounding the child's death, and have not disclosed any details. A full inquest is set to held at a later date.
Miss Ward wishes to receive answers to the questions of why her son was unsuperivsed at such a busy time of the year.
The council had defended the lifeguards and safety procedures at the pool stating that it was an afternoon public safety session about to change to swimming lessons, so as well as the three lifeguards on duty there were also a number of instructors.
The pool has been closed until further notice in respect to the family.
