A housemaid in Saudi Arabia has been found to have 24 nails hammered into her hands by her employers after she complained she was being asked to work too hard.
Sri Lankan-born L T Ariyawartha travelled to the Middle East last year to look for work, and after five months in Saudi Arabia the mother of three returned home unable to speak of her torment, according to BBC News.
After complaining of pain her family took her to a doctor where it was found 24 nails had been hammered into her by the landlord and the landlord's wife when she complained to them of a heavy workload.
Ms Ariyawathi needs hospital surgery to remove the two-inch nails that had been hammered into her hand, legs and one over her eye when they were hot. Doctors said none had damaged her internal organs.
