Police in Mexico made the grisly discovery of remains of seven men in two mines this weekend. The bodies were found in Hidalgo state.
The police have arrested six people after the remains of seven men were found in a mine in Pachuca and Mineral del Chico, according to a press release.
Three bodies were recovered from the Pachuca mine and four from Mineral del Chico. The remains for believed to be those of drug dealers.
On Sunday four men were found hanging from their ankles on a bridge outside Cuernavaca, in the state of Morelos. The mutilated and decapitated bodies were thought to have been in connection to a fight between Edgar Valdez and Hector Beltran Leyva for control of the successful Beltran Leyva drug cartel.
The victims are aged from 25 to 30. A note warned against supporting Valdez was found with the heads of the men in a town near Mexico City, Mexico.
The two have been at war since December when cartel leader Arturo Beltran Leyva was killed by the military. Hector Leyva is the brother of Arturo. Valdez is a US citizen nicknamed ‘Barbie’ for his blonde hair.
