When singer Michael Bublé played for his hometown Friday night he was giving back to the community. The sold out concert proceeds were being used to the local children's hospital.
He announced during his performance that all the proceeds from the show were benefiting the construction of a new BC Children's Hospital and to enhance medical services for children throughout the province.
"They are really inspirational people, and the doctors and nurses who care for them are amazing," said Bublé in a press release. "But, when you're in the hospital, you can really understand the need for a new building."
Bublé has been in the background of BC Children's Hospital for years, taking the time to quietly meet with patients and their families. In 2008 he became an Ambassador to the Campaign for BC Children. During a performance at that year's Bublé Gala he raised over $2.2 million for the campaign. Bublé has also lent his songs Home and Everything to the campaign.
The Friday night concert in Vancouver was that end of a 12-date Canadian tour promoting his latest album Crazy Love.
"Michael Bublé has been more than willing to do what he can to both help us raise money for a new hospital, and to help children and their families feel better while they are at BC Children's," said Don Lindsay, president and CEO of Teck Resources Limited and chair of the Campaign for BC Children said in a press release. "It's pretty clear to us that this comes from his heart. He cares deeply about BC's children."
The Campaign for BC Children is calling on British Columbians to "Be a Superhero" for BC's children by making a donation to the campaign. Donations can be made online at
