article imageUK Soccer: Gallas set for Spurs

By Sarah Shannon     Aug 20, 2010 in Sports
Former Chelsea star William Gallas is said to be hanging up his boots at the Emirates and jumping ship to White Hart Lane.
Gallas is a free agent after not taking up his offered contract with the Gunners, and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed interest in signing the 33 year old French man, who is said to be undergoing a medical on Friday.
The former Chelsea centre-back has high wage demands of £80,000 a week which is thought to be behind his departure from the Emirates, but Gallas has agreed to take a wage cut to join Spurs.
Gallas would strengthen a depleted Spurs back line that is missing Jonathan Woodgate with long standing groin injury and Ledley King who is still plagued with knee problems.
If the transfer was to go through Gallas would be Redknapps second summer signing with Brazilian midfielder Sandro expected to arrive in the UK imminently.
