article imageOp-Ed: Rappers IzZy & Jay Ayliaz debut mixtape, No Days Off: Vol. 1

By Matt Harding     Aug 18, 2010 in Entertainment
These are two names you'll definitely want to remember. IzZy and Jay Ayliaz are small-time rappers with big-time music. Take a listen to see for yourself.
They may not be nationally known, but their fan base in west coast cities such as Seattle and Portland knows these two individuals are extremely talented. Now, you will too.
IzZy and Ayliaz met in high school when they were just 15 and 17, respectively, and have been rapping together ever since. That, however, was four years ago. The pair has since "evolved as artists," as Ayliaz put it. I've been following their music since they started, and I agree with Ayliaz (and then some). They have both vastly improved their style and are 110% better than they were.
The new mixtape took only two days to create, hence the title: No Days Off: Vol. 1. According to Ayliaz, there was 12 hours of writing, four hours of recording, and three hours of mixing.
I completely recommend taking a listen to all of the songs. But, there is one song that I would absolutely demand you to listen to: Ham Sandwich. The song was written by both IzZy and Ayliaz. Their combined lyrical genius shows with these lyrics, rapped by Ayliaz:
"The industry hates people just like me / To them I'm just an over-sized dude rappin' in a white tee"
IzZy and Ayliaz aren't your stereotypical "gangsta" rappers. They are much more than that; they are much better than that.
Take a look at IzZy and Jay Ayliaz on Facebook by clicking the links. There, you'll find all sorts of information on upcoming shows, new tracks, and all you'd like to know about, as I'd like to call them, the best in the northwest.
