Four newborns are dead after an electrical fire at a Romanian hospital Monday. No one went to save them until firefighters arrived at the hospital.
The four infants were in the intensive care unit at Giulesti Maternity Hospital. The fire is being blamed on an electrical cord in the air conditioning system being installed improperly according to a press release.
For nearly an hour the fire burned slowly with no staff in the unit. When the staff did alert the fire department no one went in to save the newborns.
A nurse that was supposed to be watching over the babies is being questioned by prosecutors along with 15 other staff members.
Seven babies are now being treated for injuries they sustained in the fire.
