By Andrew Moran     Aug 15, 2010 in Environment
Toronto - The Greater Toronto Area hasn't experienced severe storms this summer. However, the Toronto area was struck with a huge storm after Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm watch for most parts of Southern Ontario.
There hasn’t been a lot of rainfall or storms in the Greater Toronto Area this summer, which has been a nightmare for those who want some relief from the constant days of heat waves, smog alerts and sunny weather.
On Sunday, those people got their wish. According to City News, Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm watch for Southern Ontario, including most parts of the GTA. The group issued the warning due to the risk of severe thunderstorms, wind and rainfall.

Environment Canada says the watch could last until Sunday evening when hail and intense lightning could occur because of a cold front crossing the province’s south.
The rainfall saw Torontonians seeking cover whether it was under their umbrella, under a roof or a bus shelter. However, even if you walked on the flooded sidewalk, there was a high chance you will be washed by cars.
At 4:20 p.m., the thunder was still continuing but there is only light rainfall.
