Neil Patrick Harris and partner set to become parents in the fall

Using the social media network Twitter openly gay actor Neil Patrick Harris announced that he and his partner are expecting twins.

The How I Met Your Mother star wrote on Twitter about the planned arrival: "So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy...” The babies are due this fall. Harris and his partner David Burtka are using a surrogate to become fathers. Harris came out of the 'closet' in after attending an award show with Burtka in 2007 on the Ellen DeGeneres show. The couple have been together since 2004. During a 2008 interview with People magazine Harris stated: "...I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."
